In the Pines Studio presents a monthly film series in partnership with CREATE Portage County, screening classic and indie cinema. Join filmmaker Matthew A. Brown and actress Winter Williams in their studio's dark, vintage setting, and experience an eclectic mix of iconic studio films made before 1930 and thought-provoking independent cinema.

This will be an intimate screening of FEBRUARY. A local Wisconsin made film with writer & director Nathan Deming in person. Q&A to follow.

FILM DESCRIPTION
In the heart of winter in Wisconsin, a recent Mexican immigrant (David Ezekiel Duran) struggles with loneliness and cultural adjustment while navigating life with his sister’s established family (Nayeli Hernandez and Erick Inestroza). His perspective shifts when he discovers ice fishing.

Part of the YEAR PROJECT, a 12-part anthology film series based on the months of the year and set in the same Wisconsin town. Inspired by Kieslowski's DEKALOG and Balzac's LA COMÉDIE HUMAINE, it uses standalone yet interconnected stories to explore time, seasons, culture, identity, community, and, of course, Wisconsin itself.

From the director:
"The Year Project is an attempt to make a film for every month of the year. They will shift main characters every time and perspectives, and hopefully explore different and surprising parts of life in our state, and will together form a larger picture as each film comes to be."
